I have a special friend. His name is Dr. Pradeep Kansagra. Years ago, he obtained his MS degree and started his own urology hospital in Rajkot. In a short period of time, he gained immense popularity as a noble doctor. His hospital was thriving for years. But after closing the hospital, he settled in America and came to Rajkot every year.

During that time, he dreamed of building a big kidney hospital by bringing together many people and collected a fund of crores of rupees and built βB. T. Savani Kidney Hospitalβ in Rajkot, which became a model for the entire Saurashtra. In this hospital, equipped with the most modern equipment in the medical field, all the treatment is provided to any patient at a very nominal rate. Dr. Kansagra has also been a very successful businessman in the real estate sector. Apart from this, he also received the AAPI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) Best Doctor Award in America a short while ago. What is the secret behind all this success?
I have understood the secret from the study of his personality over the years. The biggest secret of his success is – his smiling face, his funny nature, his smiling personality. When you see him, you are just in joy. Always smiling.
This is a very big achievement. If this achievement is achieved, then other successes come automatically. Do you realize how much impact we can have on the person in front of us with our one smile?
It was a story of years ago. A man was walking on the road in a city in America. He saw an unknown man walking in front of him. He thought that let’s make him happy. Let’s give him a smile. When that man came closer, this brother gave him a nice smile. The poor man was walking in his own confusion and someone gave him such a nice smile in the morning and he was happy.
Then after having lunch in a restaurant in the afternoon, happily gave the waiter a huge tip of ten dollars. He thought, let me make my son happy today. He has been wanting a small puppy for a long time but I could not buy it because I did not have money. Today, I will buy a puppy from this amount and gift it to him. How happy he will be!
He gifted the puppy to his son. The son was happy… He started playing with this puppy every day, days started passing… Now the puppy had grown up. It had become a dog. Many people were burned to death in it, but this family was saved because the dog woke everyone up by barking as soon as the fire started.
Years passed. The child grew up, made great progress, and eventually became the President of the United States. This is about George Washington.
If he had not had a dog in his childhood, America would not have had George Washington. How did he get a puppy? Why did the waiter get a bigger tip? Someone came to the restaurant very happy. Why was that person happy? Because someone gave him a beautiful smile for no reason. So this is the reason behind George Washington becoming the President of the United States. What can’t a smile do? Well, this is the value of a smile.
Keep smiling to people. Always keep a happy face. Be cheerful. People will surround you. You will get their good cooperation.

Through a smile, we declare that we are happy. Everyone likes a happy person. Whenever I come from a program outside, no matter how late it is at night, my pet Labrador dog ‘Gattu’ is always waiting for me in the balcony. As soon as I enter the house, he runs up and stands up with his front two legs. He clings to me and starts licking me. I also get so happy that I forget all my tiredness and love him.
Children are also so happy! And that is why they feel loved. We have a lot to learn from these people. The joy of being happy without any selfishness is something else and as a result, people also love us.
Our smile speaks more than any of our actions. University of Michigan psychologist Prof. James McConnell has said that those who are always happy and smiling are better managers, teachers, salespeople, and raise children better than others.
Even if we are dressed in clothes and ornaments but do not have a smile on our face, a smiling face is a kind of prosperity. If we look very poor, we are very precious. Our smile reveals many things. Our smile shows that we are happy. We are enjoying living this life. We have full life energy. We are ours. With our smile, we invite the other person to talk to us, accept the other person, give permission. A smile is a kind of welcome.
Although the tension arising from the stress arising throughout the day in work or the difficulties faced by a housewife in household work seems reasonable, when the children of the house see their parents’ faces downcast, upset or sad, it has a serious effect on them. You must have noticed that when you are sad, the children do not sit around you for long. They go to another room or outside. Why? Because those people do not like that sad or serious face at all. They feel suffocated by it. Children are the living form of God. If we want a bright future for our children, we should always keep a smile on our faces.
I have especially noticed that customers can buy more easily from those businessmen who have a smile on their faces. They feel more comfortable. There is a Chinese proverb that says, βHe who does not have a smile on his face should never open a shop.β How ironic!
Our face is a mirror of our personality. The world has nothing to do with our problems or dilemmas, why should we advertise our sorrows by keeping a serious face? This spreads the disease of seriousness to other people as well. Do we have the right to spread such an infection?
Minaben Kothari is the MD of a casting company. One day, she proposed in a general meeting that all the employees of our factory should decide that whenever an employee sees another employee while moving around during the day, they should give him a nice smile. Everyone accepted this and then it started to be implemented. At first, everyone felt a little strange but then they started having fun. A storm of happiness swept through the factory. Everyone’s relationships with each other started to improve, their ability to work started to increase. And everyone’s whole day started to improve. Its positive effect started to be felt in their families too. Can’t we do this?
Even though there is sadness in the mind, when you start smiling, that sadness automatically starts to melt. And then a true smile also appears from within. If a smile does not come on the face, then bring it to the past. You will start getting results and then a natural smile will start coming automatically. In my workshop, I make everyone do such an exercise at the beginning so that everyone can smile openly throughout the day.
Many people also believe that it is enough for me not to walk around with a sad face. What else is needed? No. It is not enough for the face not to look sad. You should appear happy, cheerful and smiling. Try this experiment of smiling yourself. Then you will say, ‘I must have some energy in my speech.’
I know many people who would have failed in their business if they had not had a smile on their face. Even ignorant people with a smiling face make more progress than wise people walking around with a serious face.
If a smile were not so important, we would not have the custom of having names like ‘Hasmukh’ and ‘Prasannavadan’. We worship the gods and goddesses, but do we ever pay attention to how beautiful their faces are in that picture? Keep a smiling face all day long and convince the society that it is yours? True worship is that God resides within us to imitate their smiling faces.
Doctors also say that those who are always happy have good physical health. If you are sick, it also helps a lot in recovering from the disease. Laughter therapy has also been developed for this. Laughter clubs are run in the morning in public parks of cities. So keep laughing for physical health too.
Laughter is the best medicine.
A smile on your face can also fix a bad joke. When a family member, a friend or other relative is angry, you start convincing them with a smile, right? Can you convince an angry person without putting a smile on your face? Humans are different from all other animals when it comes to smiling. Smiling is a precious gift given to us by God.
I have seen people living in abject poverty with a happy face and I have seen people living a five-star lifestyle walking around with a sad face.
Your smile has little to do with the circumstances or conditions you live in. Your smile is related to your inner world.
If a smile made for two seconds in a photo studio can give everyone a picture of your smiling personality through photos for the rest of your life, then how can giving a lively smile hundreds of times a day make life blossom?!

That’s why I say… Smile pliiiiiis!!
