Why did four-five pendas become less from this box? Sonalben was surprised. Looking at her husband with a sideways look, she asked – “You haven’t eaten, have you?!” Rajeshbhai, laughing because he was caught, said, “You already know, so why are you asking?” Sonalben got angry. “Even small children don’t understand, but why don’t you understand when you are so big? How many times do I have to tell you one thing after another? The doctor has clearly refused you to eat sweets, so why don’t you stop? Do you think it’s good to eat sweets secretly at this age?!”
In response, Rajeshbhai also got angry and then they went on a long fight. Rajeshbhai had been diagnosed with diabetes for six months. His blood sugar level used to be high, but he could not control his tendency to eat sweets. Sonalben was bored.
But now Sonalben adopted a new method. She knew that Rajeshbhai was fond of eating sweets and savoury dishes, so one day when Rajeshbhai was in a mood, she said to him, “Rajesh, today I was thinking that I should make some things that you like at home in the afternoon and if I am going to the market in the evening, I will buy some items from there, – just tell me that eating them will not cause any problem to your health.”
Rajeshbhai was very happy, wow, delicious items!! But the funny thing here was that Rajeshbhai asked to make only those things that really do not increase the sugar level.
Why?
Because till now, the idea that one should not eat sweets was given by others, whereas today it was an idea that came from within. Why did it come from within? Because Sonalben had stopped opposing his food habit.
There is magic in the way Sonalben presented the matter. Instead of imposing his own and the doctor’s idea on Rajeshbhai, he presented it in such a way that Rajeshbhai felt that the idea was his own.
Think for yourself, do you like implementing the idea given to you by others or implementing your own idea? If we don’t like other people giving us ideas, then how can others like it!!
Therefore, remember this motto in particular, – “Even if the idea is yours, it should be presented in such a way that the customer feels that it is his own.”

A wholesaler of electrical goods had also adopted this motto. But before he learned this motto, he was really in a lot of trouble. He had a staff of twenty people in his office, had a good reputation in the market, orders were getting good, but for the last one and a half years, there had been a slight decline in business and customer complaints had increased. The reason was clear and it was – disorganization in management. And lack of system.
The owner of the business, Shreshansbhai, decided to call a meeting of the staff and managers the next day, and decided in his mind what changes should be made to increase the business and make management easier.
Shreshansbhai wanted to tell his staff during the meeting, so he wrote down those points in a piece of paper. Which were as follows.
(1) Instead of sticking to the instructions that each person should work only on orders from three districts, that person should also work on orders from districts that are not allocated to him when needed.
(2) When the sales team goes on tour to take orders, they should be given sufficient information about the stock lying in the godown.
(3) Give two more assistants to the person working on urgent orders.
(4) Only one person should settle all the customers’ credit notes.
(5) Significantly increase the number of calls made to each customer for service and send a special thank you email for their cooperation.
Shreshanshbhai showed this list to his partner, but his partner was an expert in the art of winning people’s hearts. He gave Shreshanshbhai another idea and according to that idea, Shreshanshbhai took the entire staff to a comedy poet conference the next day in the evening. Everyone had a lot of fun. There was no talk of business. Everyone was laughing and laughing in the program.
The next day, Shreshanshbhai called a staff meeting. He informed everyone about the deteriorating situation of the business and the complaints of the customers. And he said to everyone with a worried face – Friends, we are currently in this situation. We have to see how to get out of this. I don’t understand anything, but you tell me what should be done so that despite the workload on you, everything is arranged properly so that we can all survive in this time of competition.
After everyone thought for a while, one after the other, everyone started presenting their ideas.
One person said, “Seth, this is a competitive era and I feel that we should increase the number of calls to provide customer service and every customer should also receive a thank you email.” Everyone agreed, and that person was happy.
Another said, “Our salesmen enthusiastically bring orders for items that have not been in the warehouse for two months. Therefore, before taking an order, every salesman should be given stock information so that he knows in advance and the customer does not have to be disappointed later… The only complaint from customers is that you do not send enough goods.” Everyone applauded his idea.
The third said, “We only have one Satishbhai working on urgent orders. He should be given one or two more assistants…” Shreshanshbhai was confused in his mind. Because the same suggestions were coming from people that he wanted to say.”
By the time the meeting was over, all the points written by Shreshanshbhai had come up and additional things had also come from the people. What were those things!
The staff admitted that (1) We people waste more time in laughing and joking. If we reduce it, then each order can be packed in a much shorter time. (2) We often talk unnecessarily on our mobile phones during work. If we stop, both the company and us will benefit. (3) We need to be a little more polite in talking to the customers.
Shreshanshbhai’s joy knew no bounds. With the technique shown by the partner, he had won the hearts of the staff. But if Shreshanshbhai had given suggestions to everyone according to the list he had made? Then would he have received such a good response? The main thing is that instead of giving direct suggestions to a person, those suggestions should come from within that person. Even if the idea is yours, It should seem that the idea is his own.
Read what Rameshbhai, who runs a computerized embroidery unit in Surat, says in his own words,-
“We have to show samples to the dealer to take orders for embroidery. We keep visiting the market and studying new designs and coming up with new ideas from them, we painstakingly create new designs and prepare samples for them. The cost of this work also becomes quite high. Then when we take these samples to our dealer, we often do not get the desired response. The orders of the dealer are very large but they are very reluctant. This design is like this and that etc. Then we feel sad that we have worked so hard to make samples and this person is not even appreciated.”
“But then we started a new method, we made incomplete samples and went to the dealer and showed them the sample and said, ‘Look at this sample. It’s incomplete. If you think there’s something you’d like to change, tell me.’ And a miracle happened. He made a few small changes and after making those changes, we immediately got big orders. Our hard work was reduced and the work became easier. Now we have adopted this method.”
What did Rameshbhai do here? He made the businessman in front of him feel that this sample is according to his own idea. – That’s all you have to do… You……
Think calmly about the person from whom you have to take work and try to understand what his perspective, his idea might be? Then present your point of view accordingly.
When you present the point of view by understanding his idea, his self-esteem gets support, and then that person automatically becomes favorable to you.
Give up hard work, adopt smart work…
Present the point in such a way that the other person feels that the idea is his own.
